BDO Mexico partner participates in the Rally Dakar 2010
Our Managing Partner from our Guadalajara office, Octavio Valle, participated in the exhausting and prestigious Rally Dakar 2010 race aboard a Honda 450X motorcycle. The rally takes place annually and is considered one of the most complicated and difficult in the world. This year competition took place in Argentina and Chile between January 1 and January 17, 2010. The Rally Dakar has taken place since 1979 and used to be run between Paris and Dakar when the motorcycles crossed the Strait of Gibraltar by boat. However, due to the political situation in Central Africa, the organization decided to change the venue to South America and to change the name of the event simply to Dakar.
Octavio was the only Mexican representative. He is a specialist in Enduro competitions where the tracks run in extreme terrains between valleys and jungles and narrow courses where the participant has to demonstrate great resilience and capabilities in order to be competitive.
Octavio prepared for the competition while running his motorcycle in Death Valley, California. He also attended a GPS navigation course. He pointed out that his principal goal is to complete the competition as only one of every two competitors that begin the course finishes.
There were 161 motorcycles in the 2010 rally, of which only 88 completed the course. Octavio finished in 51st place.
Octavio Valle has been with our Firm for three years and is currently the Managing Partner of our Guadalajara office. He is 41 years old and a tax specialist.
