The BDO International network was founded in Europe in 1963. Public accounting firms in the UK, Germany, Holland, the United States, and Canada joined their resources to form the Binder Seidman International Group. Some ten years later, the name was changed to BDO, which reflected the initials of three of its founders: Binder, Dijker and Otte.
The current structure of the BDO International network, the placing of the BDO acronym preceding the name of each country’s Member Firm, and the logo and corporate identity was implemented in 1988. Each Member Firm of the BDO International network is a legal independent entity.
The BDO network has grown and now is the fifth largest worldwide firm of public accountants and business consultants with presence in 1,095 offices throughout 110 countries.
